Aruba J9150D — 10GBASE-SR SFP+ (850 nm, MMF, up to 400 m)

What it is: A 10-Gbps SFP+ optical transceiver for multimode fiber (MMF) using an 850 nm VCSEL. Runs 10GBASE-SR over duplex LC and supports DOM/DDM (digital diagnostics). The go-to short-reach optic for 10G uplinks inside buildings and between closets.

Quick design tips (no-regret)

  • Match fiber to distance: OM4/OM5 gives more headroom than OM3; label both ends.

  • Budget the link: include patch/connector loss (~0.3–0.5 dB each).

  • Clean LCs before testing: short-reach links are surprisingly sensitive to dirty ferrules.

  • Mind bend radius: avoid tight bends behind doors and in trays to prevent modal issues.
